A return stops being simple the year equity vests, a rental closes, or a foreign account opens. We prepare the return that ties those pieces together.
Call (866) 681-2140 to talk to a preparer about your return.
We handle equity, crypto, rental and multi state income on one return
We check cost basis against your vesting records before the 1099-B figure goes on the return
One fixed fee quoted up front, before any work starts
Individual tax preparation services mean a CPA or EA prepares your federal and state returns and decides the positions taken on them. That work has four parts:
The return itself. Form 1040 and whichever schedules your income requires, from Schedule C to Schedule E to Form 8949.
The state side. Each state that taxes the income, plus the allocation between them.
The filings beside the 1040. FBAR, Form 8938 and Form 3520, which report assets and gifts and carry their own penalties.
The judgment calls. Filing status, cost basis, elections, and what carries forward into next year.
We do not sort receipts. Send business and rental figures summarized, and where no summary exists yet, we do the bookkeeping first. We prepare US returns only, so a preparer in that country handles an HMRC or CRA return.
We prepare returns for clients in all 50 states, and the same preparer keeps your file year to year. We carry your carryforwards and depreciation schedules into each new year, wherever you live.
10,000+ tax filings

A CPA or Enrolled Agent on each return
We answer client questions within 24 hours
RSUs, ESPP, ISOs and NSOs, where the reported cost basis is the problem. Exercise an ISO and hold the shares past December 31, and the IRS counts the spread as AMT income with no sale and no cash. See IPO tax strategy where a liquidity event is involved.
Moved between grant and vest? The state you left can tax the part of the vest that tracks your workdays there. New York can reach the whole vest when your employer is in New York and you worked elsewhere for your own convenience.
Schedule C, the home office and vehicle deductions, and the self employment tax on the same income.
Schedule E per property, depreciation on Form 4562, and the passive loss limits reported on Form 8582.
We build Form 8949 from an aggregator report, or reconcile it from raw exchange exports where no report exists. Detail on crypto tax services.
We model joint and both separate returns, then recommend one with the arithmetic attached.
The exclusion or the foreign tax credit, FBAR, Form 8938, and whether the year is a 1040 or a 1040-NR. Handled with international tax.
High net worth tax preparation is a coordination problem. A tax accountant for individuals with equity, a rental, a K-1 and a state allocation has to work them together, because the same numbers appear on more than one form.
TurboTax is built for simple returns and does that job well. Many returns need nothing more.
People only reach out to a Certified Public Accountant when they have a situation that cannot be handled by TurboTax... We specialize in handling the most complex situations.
The return changes. Equity vests, a rental closes, you move states mid-year, an account opens abroad. At that point the question is which position to take.
When shares vest, your employer puts the value on your W-2 and the IRS taxes it as wages. When you sell, the broker reports a basis without the compensation you already paid tax on, per the Form 8949 instructions.
1,000 shares vest at $60. Your employer reports $60,000 on your W-2.
You sell the same day. The 1099-B shows a basis of zero and a $60,000 gain.
We correct the basis on Form 8949 with code B. The gain is zero.
The broker’s form is correct as filed, so no error shows. We check each equity sale against the vesting or exercise record before we file.
The IRS attaches a separate penalty to three numbers, whether or not you owe any tax:
None of them depends on whether you owe tax for the year.
The estimated tax penalty applies unless you paid 90 percent of this year or 100 percent of last year, and that becomes 110 percent where last year’s AGI topped $150,000.
An FBAR on FinCEN Form 114, due April 15 and automatically extended to October 15. A report with no tax attached.
Form 3520, where the IRS charges 5 percent of the gift per month, up to 25 percent, on money that is not taxable income to you.
Sources: IRC 6654, FinCEN Form 114, and IRC 6039F.
The IRS charges 5 percent of the unpaid tax per month for filing late, up to 25 percent, so take the extension to file. It does not extend the time to pay.
Individual tax preparation services done elsewhere can miss an equity sale, a move between states or a first crypto year. The basis and the state allocation are where the money is.
You can claim a refund for three years from the date you filed, or two years from the date you paid, whichever is later. Send the return and we will tell you whether an amendment makes sense before you spend anything.
Six steps, and we set the price at step two.
You tell us the income sources, the filing status, the states involved, and whether anything foreign is in the picture.
We set the fee before the work begins, and we hold it if we start within the week.
Prior year return, W-2s and 1099s, the brokerage supplemental statement, and summarized figures for any business or rental, through the encrypted portal.
A CPA or EA prepares it, and a second one reviews it before filing.
We walk the return and the positions taken on it with you before it is filed. That time is included in the fee.
We file electronically and set the withholding or estimate adjustment for the current year, so April is not a surprise twice.
We do the six steps remotely. A remote tax accountant here files for clients from Seattle to Philadelphia, certified to practice in all 50 states. Moving does not mean finding a new individual tax accountant.
The price follows the schedules your return needs and not the size of your income. Individual tax preparation services here are quoted against five things:
These are the factors, not a quote. Two things run differently here. We fix the fee before the work starts instead of billing by the hour, and we price a married couple as one household, so a spouse whose income sources match yours adds nothing.
For a number today instead of a call, upload last year’s federal return through the quote form. An estimated range comes back by email, usually within ten minutes.
How the fee is built rather than billed
Read from the bottom up. The base is set once, then each complication your return contains is added on top.
Off the top of my head, about a quarter of the clients’ returns that I look at are not fully utilizing the deductions that they have available.
I highly recommend Dimov Tax Services, especially for complex equity based compensation. Clark was able to help me amend my 2022 return which I had previously filed with a different service and overpaid, and was able to get me back $20,000.
Our team includes CPAs and Enrolled Agents who work on individual returns, business taxes and tax planning. Tell us what you need help with when you get in touch.
Clients come to us the year their return needs more than software, and some come in October. Both are fine.
Tell us what your income looked like this year and we will quote the individual tax preparation services it needs before any work begins. Confidential, and handled by a CPA or EA.
